Captivate Technology selected into Creative Destruction Lab accelerator

19th August 2024

Captivate Technology has been selected into the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) accelerator programme in Melbourne.

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Accelerator is a seed-stage program that supports science and technology-based startups. The Melbourne location is part of CDL's global network of innovation hubs designed to help entrepreneurs transform scientific discoveries and technological innovations into commercially viable ventures.

Captivate Technology is a spin-out company from Massey University, led by founder and inventor, Professor Shane Telfer. The company is entering the carbon capture market and commercialising its novel material, MUF-16, a sponge-like material that captures carbon dioxide from industrial and biogenic sources. The technology is based on years of research at Massey University and was spun-out in 2022 by Massey Ventures, the commercialisation arm of the university.

Since formation, the Captivate Technology team has made significant progress, undertaking six industrial trials, scaling up the manufacturing of its MUF-16 adsorbent, and harnessing R&D collaborations with several international corporations.
